Web Development

I develop web-based applications according to your specifications. Most of my development experience is concentrated in the following areas:

  • Gaming - 8 years in the online gaming industry (poker, sports, casino) for several companies, as a developer, Linux administrator and security analyst. I’ve built affiliate and reporting systems from scratch and built real-time poker feeds for affiliates.
  • Affiliate Marketing - I have a good understanding of affiliate marketing both in the gaming and non-gaming world. I’ve written software on both for the company with the affiliates, and as an affiliate myself.
  • Wordpress - I’ve built custom plugins and widgets for Wordpress and Wordpress mu. I’ve also built a management interface so users could manage 70 blogs over 3 servers from a central dashboard.
  • Technical SEO - Building software for SEOs is what I did for over a year in the online gaming world, and helped bridge the gap between developers and the Internet marketing team. I have a strong understanding of the network protocols that make the web go and am able to find technical solutions to SEO problems.
  • Social Media - I have developed applications for Facebook and am very at home with REST-based APIs, so I can develop applications for other sites such as Twitter, digg and Flickr.
  • Query Optimization - I’ve designed entire data warehouses from the ground up (using MS SQL, DB2 and MySQL) and have a good understanding of database table structure, indexing and SQL query optimization.

SEO

Search engine optimization is about getting your site to rank high in the search engines for certain terms. These should be terms that make you money. Using different techniques and standard practices I can help your site rank higher than your competitors, making a difference to your bottom line.

My services include:

  • Performing keyword analysis - What should you be ranking for? How competitive is it?
  • Web analytics - How are visitors finding your site? How long do they stay? What keywords bring the most revenue
  • SEO audits - What could you change about your site to attract more search engine traffic and make your site more usable?
  • Custom CMS/e-commerce overhauls - Most CMS (Content Management Systems) are not SEO friendly. I can help “fix” CMS or e-commerce platforms to attract more search traffic.

    • Linux Systems Administration

    • Hosting - Worldwide, I can spec out, set up and maintain a server that will meet your needs, whether it be a simple webserver or a database cluster.
    • Server Setup - If you’ve already bought a server or VPS package, I can set it up and maintain it for you.
    • Web Server Setup - Proficient with Apache2 and lighttpd on low-resource machines (i.e. VPS), very capable with mod_rewrite and optimizing performance.
    • Control Panel Install - Proficient with cPanel setup, if you’re interested in maintaining your own machine.
